Abstract

Purpose

Nowadays, to develop innovative activities in research and development units, it is desirable to rely on the concept of open innovation to take actions towards the identification of external capabilities of an organization and external knowledge acquisition. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the impact of external technology acquisition (ETA), external technology exploitation (ETE) and culture of innovation (IC) on open innovation (OI) using SEM approach and then examine the amount of the impact of open innovation on organizational performance (OP) and value creation (VC).

Design/methodology/approach

This study was an applied survey in terms of research purpose and data collection method. The statistical population included all companies in Yazd Science and Technology Park (STP). To collect the data, 109 questionnaires were distributed. The content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts’ comments, and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated equal to 0.873 for reliability.

Findings

The results indicated, ETA, ETE and IC had significant and positive effects on OI, and OI by itself had a significant and positive impact on OP and VC. However, the hypothesis of the significant and positive effect of VC on OP was rejected.

Originality/value

Considering the importance of innovative activities of companies in STPs and the role of OI in achieving the goals of idea-driven companies, the present study evaluated the effects of factors affecting the fulfillment of OI in companies based in STPs in the Yazd province of Iran.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the paper is to bring attention to documentary credits and the efforts to reduce debt obligations in credit history is recognized as an important source of uncommitted bank earnings. Credit risk has a significant impact on the stability of the banking system. This paper identifies the types of credit risk in the banking supply chain.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors model the types of credit risk using the intuitive fuzzy failure modes and effects analysis (IFMEA) and intuitive fuzzy cognitive mapping. The population of the study that is needed for the interviews and expert panels comprises senior managers and experts of a leading bank in Iran. The respondents are experienced in credit and banking risk and were selected through judgment sampling and snowballing.

Findings

The findings suggest that reducing the risks of the foreign letters of credit contracts can mitigate the risk in the agricultural sector, the specific risks of rent-to-own contracts, the risk of the long-term facilities and the specific risk of the domestic letter of credit contracts.

Originality/value

This research investigates Iran Tejart Bank’s credit risk, formulates a model of the types of credit risk present and analyzes them using the intuitive fuzzy failure modes and effects analysis and intuitive fuzzy cognitive map. Through this credit risk model, one can then facilitate risk management for better financial stability. Also, the model can be used to evaluate the risk indicators.

Abstract

Purpose

According to the definitions presented for agility drivers, it can be mentioned that supply chain risk factors in terms of feature have very close roles to agility drivers and both of these factors impact the uncertainty in the environment. However, the risk factors with a wider domain are more comprehensive. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of risk as a driver on the organizational agility.

Design/methodology/approach

To conduct the research, after identification of influential risk factors of supply chain and indicators of organizational agility, questionnaires needed for the research were designed and after confirming their validity and reliability were distributed among the member of the sample. To assess the relationship between supply chain risk and the amount of organizational agility, data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using structural equation modeling technique.

Findings

The results of data analysis showed that supply chain risk factors could be considered as a driver affecting the organizational agility. In addition, in this study, supply chain risk factors were ranked using interpretive structural modeling. The presented comprehensive model indicated that based on causal relationships between risk factors, sovereign risk as the basis for model (three levels) and product and customer satisfaction risks as the output of the model (Level 1) were considered.

Originality/value

This paper fulfills an identified need to study how the risk factors as drivers of supply chain agility can have effect on agility.

Abstract

Purpose

In Iran, the Bank A is one of the largest and most effective banks of the banking network. The continued success of Bank A in improving the economic level of the country and satisfying the customers depends on recognizing all banking activities and processes in the form of supply chain and performing the necessary managerial acts in order to enhance the relevant processes. In this regard, the present study aimed to improve the most effective processes of banking services supply chain of Bank A in Iran.

Design/methodology/approach

The present study was applied and descriptive. Research population included the heads, deputies and active experts in Bank A, who were selected through judgmental and saturation sampling methods to complete the questionnaire and participate in interviews and conference sessions. Regarding to aim of study, the integrated approach of intuitionistic fuzzy based DEMATEL-ISM was used.

Findings

According to the results, the processes of product delivery, information technology management, public relations and advertising management, risk management, and marketing and sales management exerted the most impacts on other processes in the supply chain. Finally, after designing a process improvement path, solutions were presented to improve the most effective processes.

Originality/value

In this research, efforts were dedicated to the recognition of the major processes of the services supply chain of Bank A, designing the process framework of the bank and improving the prioritized processes by evaluating the causal relations that exist among the processes of the services supply chain.
